TIC / Oyster Pond: The Orange mobile phone network is restored

0

“Since Monday we no longer have an Orange telephone network or 4G! Dauphin Telecom should be put in the same basket because they still do not have a network in our neighborhood. The mustard is really starting to come to our noses, we are tired of being the last turkeys of the stuffing under the pretext that we are “far” ”testified a resident of Oyster Pond on Saturday August 15 in a message addressed to our editorial staff.

“The Orange transmitter covering Oyster Pond in a mobile network was repaired yesterday, Tuesday August 21. It had been down since 13/08 due to an electrical incident. This resulted in a malfunction of voice and data services for our customers in the area. »Indicates Orange this Wednesday August 22. The inhabitants indeed confirm to have recovered from the network since yesterday at the end of the day. “Orange technical teams immediately mobilized to restore services. The resolution of this failure took more time than initially expected. Although operational, the site remains under our increased supervision. »Assures Orange. For its part, Dauphin Telecom explains that it has a roaming agreement with Telcell, an operator from the Dutch side. This is why its customers residing in border areas often depend on this operator. But to strengthen this area, Dauphin Telecom informs that it installed a 3G / 4G transmitter last month at Oyster Pond which has been in service since July 6 (confirmed by Dauphin subscribers), as well as another last week in Morne Rouge ( Terres Basses) which will be in service within two weeks. The local operator invites its customers to come to a branch (Marigot or Hope Estate) to change their SIM card free of charge to receive 4G. And adds that it also sometimes happens that subscribers' smartphones are poorly configured (especially APNs) and also suggests that they contact the technical service in the agency which is there to help them. The Dauphin team carried out 4G reception tests last Friday near the creperie in Oyster Pond and found very satisfactory speeds: over 23Mbit / s for download and 34Mbit / s for upload to the sector.
