The optical fiber which makes it possible to bring very high speed in the districts, must be posed by network operators. Saint-Martin has three: Orange, Dauphin Telecom and THD Tel. The day after Irma's visit, the first undertook to fiberize Quartier d'Orléans by the end of 2018; the other two working in other areas. Wednesday, Thierry Kergall, the director of Orange Antilles-Guyane, came to Saint-Martin to inaugurate the first point of mutualisation.

"Several cupboards will be installed in Quartier but also in Oyster Pond and Anse Marcel by the end of the year," he said. This means that the fiber will be installed in these three areas in the coming weeks. “We will then gradually deploy during the first half of 2019 at Orient Bay, Mont Vernon, Concordia, part of Marigot and Nettle Bay. The first catches will be available from March ”, continues Thierry Kergall. The rest of the territory will then be wired by Orange during the second half of 2019; "In the other districts, the installation of the fiber requires the provision of new underground pipes", specifies the director.

On this site in the French part of the island, Orange operates in partnership with Canal + Telecom.

"We are a co-financier of this network", underlines Didier Koury, director of new markets within Canal + Telecom.
