“Taste of the Caribbean”: rain of medals for our island

The 2016 “Taste of the Caribbean” culinary competition - which took place in Miami last week - was particularly successful on our island, which collected 10 medals.   

On their return, the team from St.Maarten / St.Martin was greeted with music at Juliana Airport and congratulated by Ingrid Arrindell, Minister of Tourism of Sint Maarten: “This performance reflects why St. Maarten / St. Martin is indeed the culinary capital of the Caribbean. “

Here are the winners: David Cudicio (Dreams restaurant) received two gold medals, for the chef of the year, and the seafood category; Paul Peterson (Temptation restaurant) had the gold medal for the bartender of the year and was awarded for the best soft drink; Peter Holstein (The Food Collective Rum and Peas) received the silver medal for the beef category; the silver medal for the junior chef of the year was awarded to Suzirea Adoptie (National Institute for Professional Advancement); Ronald Estephane (Sonesta Great Bay Beach Resort) left with the silver medal for the cheesecake category and another bronze for the pastry chef of the year. Finally, the team received the silver medal for "The Caribbean Team Of The Year" and the "Spirit Competition Tony Mack" award. _EH
