St Barth goes fast!

I came to St-Barth two weeks after Irma, on September 22, and I saw that the island still had a lot of damage even if people had already started cleaning and rebuilding.

I returned there on November 11 through Voyager which had resumed its rotations. Already when I arrived in Gustavia there was a good atmosphere, everything was clean, there were shops and restaurants open, the buildings were already almost completely restored and the people were busy but smiling. I was really amazed. It was as if a small miracle had happened. It looked like the island had never been visited by the biggest cyclone of all time. But indeed it is not a miracle. It is the people who live here who have done their utmost to return to normal as quickly as possible. They worked together to make “the miracle happen”. Hundreds of people, individuals, businesses and associations have united to give the island the opportunity to recover after this disaster.

To allow all this, the community of St-Barthélémy has created the St-Barth Foundation which will support reconstruction actions, disaster relief and actions for nature, with replanting and other projects. And here is the result, it is before our eyes.

For the high season which begins soon, we speak of 40 to 50% of tourist attendance compared to other seasons. And the availability of hotels and villas seems to show the same percentage.

I advise you to go soon to St-Barth to spend a few days in total relaxation you will be surprised, like me, the beauty of the island: perhaps more beautiful than before Irma. _Roberta Ceccarelli
