The evening of the 2016 Sports Awards which took place recently at the MJC Sandy-Ground saw the coronation of Thomas Witczak, elected by his peers, sportsman of the year 2014-2015.
The ceremony, dedicated to reward athletes, educators and leaders, all sports combined, was chaired by the territorial advisor Alain Gros-Désormeaux, in charge of Sports, in the presence of the Prefect delegated to the Communities of St Barth and St-Martin, Anne Laubies.
By this action, the Collectivity of Saint-Martin wished to honor the sportsmen who distinguished themselves on and outside the territory, but also to welcome the investment of sports clubs and the involvement of leaders.
Among the many awards, the Palme d'Or went to young water ski champion Thomas Witczak, elected sportsman of the year 2014-2015. Only 13 years old, “Tom” already collects many titles on his record. Rather judge:
• N ° 1 European in 2014 (category - 12 years old)
• Vice-champion of France 2014 slalom and combined
• 2015 French slalom champion (category - 14 years old)
• Vice-champion of France 2015 in figure, jump and combined
• Finalist European Championship 2015 in Rome
