Solidarity: The pavilion of the SNSM station in Saint-Martin at half mast ...

… In solidarity with the SNSM station in Sables-d'Olonne and with the families of the three deceased sea rescuers and the missing fisherman.

The tragedy occurred off the coast of Sables-d'Olonne on Friday, June 7, when the star SNS 061 intervened to try to rescue a fisherman caught in the storm “Miguel” which raged on the coasts of Atlantic coast of France.

It is reminiscent of the “heroic rescue” by the rescuers of the Saint-Martin resort of a couple of yachtsmen and a 6-month-old baby, during Cyclone Gonzalo in October 2014. Fortunately everyone had come out safe and sound, but  the speedboat SNS 129 had been subjected to severe test and put out of service during 3 and a half years, for repair.

The members of the SNSM station in Saint-Martin meet every Thursday from 19 p.m. to 20 p.m. in their room located next to the O PLONGEOIR restaurant. All people of good will, animated by a spirit of service, are welcome to volunteer in the activity of the association or in saving lives at sea.

A campaign to appeal for donations will also be launched shortly on the occasion of the national holiday of sea rescue, on June 29, particularly among boaters, who constitute 80% of the resort's sea trips. A digital terminal for collecting donations should also be set up at the Marina Fort-Louis on this occasion.
