“We have observed a partial confinement of our population, which suggests the risks of the worsening of the health crisis and of the rapid spread of this fact. Our concern relates particularly to the Sandy Ground district ”, explain Taï Ghzalale, Jeanne Vanterpool and the other members of the association Saint-Martin Uni.

"We were able to carefully observe the colossal and excellent work done by the State and COM services and we wished to take part in it, to contribute to it as a civil society", they continue.

Last Thursday, the association therefore organized a meeting to which it invited "people who seem to it to have the necessary sensitivity and the local recognition of the population and their ears", which are Georges Richardson, Antero Santos, Lucien Gamiette, Annick Petrus and Angèle Dormoy.

Together, they decided to implement several actions. The first is the definition of a multilingual communication plan, with sound and video, passage through the neighborhoods with a multilingual megaphone, first at Sandy Ground, then in other neighborhoods (Concordia, Rambaud and Quartier d ' Orleans).

"This action will be continued by people whom we will have to pay", underlines the association. A request for financial assistance and the provision of resources was made to the COM and the prefecture.

“At the same time, knowing that the COM will start distributing baskets and meal trays, we want to join in by financing donations made by economic players”, adds Taï Ghzalale. For example, the association wishes to buy “a container of rice and water, which will be distributed to the population”.

She also wants to be able to buy masks and communicate the information to make them yourself, as well as the disinfectant liquid.

"The general objective is to participate in the efforts of local and national authorities, and to promote a return to normalcy as quickly as possible within the territory of Saint-Martin", concludes Taï Ghzalale.
