0

The Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA), the Florida cruise ship association, will surely be able to hire staff from Sint Maarten. The legislation on hiring, on ships flying the foreign flag, and which has been adapted in other countries, could be adjusted to the legislation of Sint Maarten.

The Ministry of Public Health, Social Development and Labor (VSA) is following up to determine whether, the few examples of adjustments made to the legislation, can be beneficial for nationals of Sint Maarten. VSA Minister Emil Lee considers the learning and income potential for potential Sint Maarten employees in the cruise industry to be attractive and will be further explored by his department. For the Minister, employment in the cruise industry offers several advantages and opportunities for people who would be interested or specialized in hospitality or services. The standards of customer satisfaction and those in force in the cruise sector are very high, which makes them excellent training for gaining valuable work experience. In addition, working on a cruise ship offers the advantage of being fed and accommodated on board, which makes this work financially interesting for the employees. _RM
