0

A fire broke out in a Front Street business on Sunday, September 22, necessitating the intervention of firefighters and the police. No casualties are to be deplored following this fire.

It was around 9:00 am that a police patrol and the Philipsburg fire men were dispatched to Front Street where smoke was emerging from the Caribbean Paradise store. After removing the metal curtain protecting the store, the firefighters were able to enter the business and assess the extent of the fire which they quickly brought under control.

According to the first observations made by the firefighters, it was established that the lack of ventilation was one of the problems encountered in trying to control the fire. For the safety of the public and response personnel, Front Street was partially closed to traffic for a few hours. An investigation has been launched to determine the causes of this fire._RM
