Bromates: The pollution episode should end in December

0

Following the revelation of the presence of bromates in the pipes polluting the water produced and distributed by Saur, the Saint Martin water and sanitation establishment (EEASM) decided to clean the network.

The disinfection will be done by an injection of chlorine dioxide at the outlet of the Morne Valois and Mont des Accords reservoirs. For this, specific equipment must be put in place.

"The machines are manufactured by a company in Germany and they must be put on the boat at the end of October", specified Patrick Lentz, the director of the EEASM, in session of the territorial council Monday morning.

It provides for a period of fifteen days at their installation. He estimates another fortnight the time necessary to evacuate all of the bromates in the networks.  "Then we will have solved the bromate problem, that's for sure," he says.

This suggests an end to pollution in mid December. "We hope that at Christmas everyone will be able to drink tap water," says Patrick Lentz. (soualigapost.com)
