Sint Maarten: 18 new police officers sworn in by the Minister of Justice

Eighteen enthusiastic new police officers from the Class of 2019 were sworn in before Attorney General Anna Richardson at a ceremony last Friday outside the Walter R. Kramers Building (Philipsburg Police Department).

They received their diplomas from M. De Boer and R. Appelhof of the Netherlands Police Academy, and their epaulets changed from that of a cadet to that of an officer!

In the presence of Governor Eugene Holiday, Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs, Attorney General Anna Richardson, new Chief Prosecutor Hieke Buist addressed the graduates and wished them the best on the professional path they had chosen. They thanked the graduates for having responded to the vocation to work in the judicial field.

Police Chief Carl John, the other KPSM (Dutch Police) management team and representatives from the Dutch Police Academy also congratulated the new graduates and thanked family members for their support of officers during their training.

By adopting these new training methods, the Korps Politie of Sint Maarten aims to further elevate its personnel to the highest possible level and lay the foundation for a professional police force of the highest standards.

The ceremony was also attended by MPs, other members of the Council of Ministers, heads of departments, representatives of various associations and communities, colleagues, relatives and close friends. _AF
