International Code Week: Aline Hanson School Students Learn Computer Coding

0

Code Week is an event which takes place on a European scale and which has existed since 2012. Organized locally by the association ANIS (Digital Association and Social Innovation) and 3W Academy, this event took place for the first time in Saint-Martin. Tuesday morning, it was the students of the Aline Hanson school who were introduced to coding.

The ANIS association, chaired by Farid Ichène, aims to support, on the territory, project leaders in terms of digital inclusion or to develop digital inclusion. Company of the social and solidarity economy, 3WA Saint-Martin offers free training in digital professions, which allow you to quickly find a job or create your own activity. The two partners chose the Aline Hanson school "to be able, from free workshops, to introduce students to the practice of coding", says Annick Pétrus director of the school, "they had a short introduction to programming of a small character, so as to make him run, walk, jump… ”. And for this initiation to take place, trainers from 3W Academy came free of charge.

One of the objectives of Code Week is to create a time of awareness at the level of the educational community, but also at the level of children, “since we now know that computer programming is one of the bases of skills to be mastered in within the framework of school education. These are directives from the Ministry of National Education, ”says Jerry Desbonnes, head of 3W Academy Saint-Martin. “When ANIS asked us to lead a workshop with them, we found it very interesting, because in terms of our 3W Academy pedagogy, there are modules called“ Learning by teaching ””. Modules which make it possible to verify that the learners have mastered the training provided, and for this they are put in the situation where they must teach.

An initiation which went perfectly, to the delight of the young students, who also received the visit of the delegated prefect Sylvie Feucher.
