In Tintamare, the “Sea Discovery day 205” event brought together 110 young people from Soualia colleges, Mont des Accords, Quartier d'Orléans and the lycée des Iles du Nord at the beginning of the month, 15 accompanying persons, 20 boats and skippers, Bulent Gulay, president of the Métimer association, which dedicates this celebration to his friend Jean Charles Pujol.
Among the participants, the rescuers of the SNSM, the team of the marine mammal sanctuary and that of the Nature Reserve who accompanied these young people, thanks to the assistance of the National Agency for Social Cohesion and Equal Opportunities (ACSE ) and the Collectivity, specifies the association.

The president explains that most of the young people had never set foot on a boat, nor seen their island from the sea. “All were amazed by these successive discoveries, curious to ask questions about everything, the boats, nature , fish, marine mammals, beach gear and following the example of our winner Mirline, they cleaned the beach at Tintamarre, understanding that plates, plastic glasses have no place in nature and are dangerous for turtles and other animals, ”he said, thanking all participants. Métimer knows very well that the nursery of the future of the trades of the sea, the pleasure, the fishing will pass by this kind of educational events but also playful. ” The next event will take place on November 9.

“Twenty years ago, Jean Charles Pujol, the maritime expert, launched the first maritime training courses in Saint-Martin. I was his student like most of the skippers who are active in Saint-Martin. When I got my captain's license, I had just made my passion into my job, ”says the president of the association. It was he who had the idea of organizing this educational outing by calling the boat rental companies who responded (...)
