HEALTH: Three screening actions for cervical cancer

0

On October 19, 20 and 21, the Regional Cancer Screening Coordination Center (CRCDC 971), based in Guadeloupe, organized three cervical screening mornings in Concordia, Saint-Barthélemy and Quartier d'Orléans.

As part of Pink October, Clarisse Bajazet, quality referent of CRCDC 971 and organized screening for cervical cancer, has chosen to come and meet the women of Saint-Martin to promote breast and colorectal cancer screening. and the cervix, the latter of which targets women between the ages of 25 and 65: "After this long period of the pandemic, we are relaunching the machine by returning to patients because our main role is to carry out screening with follow-up if there is positivity. The first action took place at Concordia with an examination room in the premises of the French Red Cross (CRF) and the sampling room set up in the CRF's health bus. 28 samples were taken out of 40 appointments set with, at the start, 180 women selected by the CRCDC via a draw according to various selection criteria such as a valid telephone number and active social security coverage. The second morning of screening took place on the neighboring island of Saint-Barthélemy, at the Center Médico-Social and at the office of a midwife in Saint-Jean, with great success and real involvement of the female public: on 40 appointments scheduled, 45 samples were taken. During these promotional actions, women are free to present themselves spontaneously, free screening is accessible to anyone with social insurance. For the last morning, Clarisse Bajazet and two acolytes moved to the French Quarter Clinic (Quartier d'Orléans) with an examination room made available and the Red Cross Health bus as a second sampling location, brought by Doctor Frédéric Olivo, coordinator of CRF activities in Saint-Martin. Same result as at Concordia: out of 40 appointments, 28 samples were sent to the laboratory in Guadeloupe with the results sent to the patients' homes and to their doctor's office no later than two weeks after the smear. At the same time, the CRCDC trained the pharmacists of Saint-Martin by videoconference in the distribution of colorectal tests for even more awareness on screening for this pathology. _VX
