HEALTH: Very low attendance at the Galisbay vaccination center

440 people went to the vaccination center in Galisbay last week to receive a first dose of Pfizer vaccine, a low figure and "disappointing" according to state services and the regional health agency.

However, all the means have been put in place with the Red Cross  to welcome the public from the French side: parking, four passing queues, wide time slot (Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 16 p.m.), support without an appointment and a permanent team of 25 people.

The vaccination capacity is about 300 people per day; less than 100 have so far attended on a daily basis.

Why will the Saint-Martinois not be vaccinated? The authorities, who held a press conference on Monday morning, have no answer. “In Saint-Barth, nearly 300 people went there every day,” comments Prefect Serge Gouteyron.

Monday morning, the State, the ARS and the Red Cross invited representatives of places of worship from the French side to explain to them the challenges of vaccination and thus encourage them to pass the message on to their faithful. "It is an individual gesture but above all a collective one because we must think about treating the next ones and achieving collective immunity", insists Cédric Jeannot, the person in charge of the vaccinodrome.
