Saint Martin dreams of being the cradle of electro music

Tourist numbers on the island are likely to explode next month with the launch of the first electronic music festival in the Caribbean. At the origin of this project, the Quebecer Julian Arbia who intends to attract nearly 2000 visitors by inviting the best DJs to the turntables.   

Shaun Reeves, Adriatique, Hosh, Lee Burridge or Lauren Lane: these names may not ring a bell. However, they are big names in the world of electro music. Artists with the ability to capture crowds from all over the world. With its well-crafted promo, the first edition of SXMusic Festival - from March 9 to 13, 2016 - could turn Saint-Martin into a must-see spot for "clubbers", such is the challenge of the organizer, DJ and producer Julian Arbia. "The hardest part was convincing the artists to come, because Saint-Martin is not yet known for electro music", he explains. Last month, it was at the Tourist Office that Julian Arbia unveiled the main lines of this ambitious event for our island, welcomed by the director of the institution Kate Richardson and by the chief of staff of the president of the Collectivity, Pierre Brangé.

"We have always had the objective of having what is done on Ibiza, it is a little the model, transposed in the Caribbean", underlines the director. The festival will take place during the day at Orient Bay and at night in Maho. For the occasion, shuttles will be set up between the two parts of the island. Residents benefit from a special price for the festival: 180 euros for the full event (instead of 300 euros) or 55 euros per day.
