Risk of Sargassum stranding within 15 days

0

Last week, a few rare rafts between 10 and 15 km from the coast northeast of Saint-Barthélemy were visible on satellite images.

They are moving for the moment mainly towards the north-west but some could occasionally catch Saint-Martin within 2 to 3 days. Between 50 and 100 km east of the coast, a train loaded with Sargassum climbs very slowly towards the north-west. It still constitutes a latent threat of arrival on the islands in the event of a cyclonic phenomenon passing nearby in the coming days. 40 km south-east of Saint-Barthélemy, more or less small piles of rafts rise in the flow towards the French island. They could be the source of arrivals on the south of the island in the second part of the week. They are to be watched.

In addition, part of the algae located in the west of Barbados, goes up towards the North-West and will enter the South of the Antilles zone. In addition, the many rafts to the immediate east of the Antilles zone (290 km) are subject to a powerful current coming from the east and then from the south-east, leading them to threaten us in the next 15 days.
