On the occasion of COP21, overseas players also take part in numerous exchanges at Le Bourget: 17 representatives from overseas are part of the French delegation. Our territory also raised its issues as part of this great mass dedicated to the climate.

This week will be crucial: ministers from some 195 countries will have to find a global climate agreement. A draft agreement was also returned as planned last Saturday to the president of the COP21 Laurent Fabius.

Saint Martin at COP21

Guillaume Arnell, 1st vice-president of the Collectivity, and Louis Fleming, territorial advisor in charge of cooperation, represent our island. During the overseas day, at the beginning of the month, they were able to discuss environmental issues - renewable energies, protection of coral reefs, sea level rise, pollution - and take part in several workshops, according to the COM. The elected officials were also received at the Elysee Palace.

"My Climate, My Problem" project

As part of COP21, the Mont des Accords college developed the “My Climate, My Problem” project. This week, several activities will take place within the school: a permanent exhibition on global warming; a conference on the challenges of climate change in Saint-Martin and its impact on our island; a debate between the students of Concordia's college and those of Milton Peters and Sundial School, and a film club with film projection, with the theme of preserving the planet and climate issues. Thursday morning, a conference is planned at the Mont des Accords college and a tree for the climate will be planted on this occasion.
