Work meeting between Daniel Gibbs and the Keeper of the Seals

The two men already know each other and have even collaborated together: the Minister of Justice and Minister of Justice Jean-Jacques Urvoas and the deputy Daniel Gibbs took part in a working session last week at the Chancellery. 

At his request, Mr. Gibbs wished to make an inventory of justice for the Northern Islands. He also proposed solutions to “move our islands forward”. The opportunity for our deputy to reaffirm to the minister his wish to one day see a prison in Saint-Martin. "In the meantime, it seems to me necessary to find inexpensive and quick palliatives to set up: thus, I proposed to the Minister of Justice that article 937 of the code of criminal procedure be applied to Saint-Martin. (…) Keep the accused in custody in the gendarmerie premises while awaiting trial for three working days. This would facilitate immediate appearances on our territory, ”he said.
