Thanks to funding from the CCISM, as part of an economic and educational partnership, the high school students from the wood workshop of the polyvalent high school in the Northern Islands made thirty hives for the benefit of the beekeepers association of Saint-Martin.

In high school, the president of the CCISM Jean Arnell, in his words of thanks, specified yesterday that these hives will be used soon by beekeepers. According to him, this initiative also allowed students to discover and appreciate this sector of activity. For Julien Gumbs, in charge of agricultural mission at the CCISM, the cultivation of honey in Saint-Martin is rather satisfactory, despite the consequences of the drought period. He remains very optimistic by declaring that the territory has a production potential which could reach 30 to 35 tonnes of honey per year, betting on good development. In high school, this initiative was not part of the program for the year. The 60 high school students showed their determination in favor of the community. According to some, this experience was very enriching. _KL
