Ségolène Royal, the Minister of the Environment, is on an official visit to Guadeloupe and Martinique until Wednesday to discuss different themes, including the energy transition and the protection of marine and terrestrial biodiversity. Ms. Royal is also committed to the protection of coral reefs in the West Indies. "For the first time in France, a ministerial decree will protect 16 species of constructing coral in Guadeloupe, Martinique and Saint-Martin," said the ministry, adding that this measure was validated last Friday by experts from the National Council of the nature protection. On March 16, 17 and 18, the Minister will travel to Guyana for the conference of the Cartagena Convention with the countries of the Caribbean zone.
