A round table was held last Friday at the premises of the CCISM to present the Forward – Horizon 2020 project between elected officials, managers and entrepreneurs.

Angèle Dormoy, president of the Interprofessional Consular Chamber of Saint-Martin (CCISM) addressed the assembly made up of entrepreneurs wishing to develop an ecosystem of research and innovation in the territory. Alain Richardson, first vice-president of the Collectivity in charge of the Economy and Resources (finance and taxation) took over by recalling the importance of new technologies and thus of fighting against the digital divide from which certain isolated territories suffer today. today. This event organized by the Collectivity of Saint-Martin and in partnership with the CCISM is part of the Forward – Horizon 2020 project, a program managed by the European Commission which aims to strengthen the research and innovation capacities of the European Union. Horizon 2020 aims to boost EU research capacities in order to contribute to the knowledge economy and make the EU one of the world leaders in research and innovation. The Forward project is supported by the EU with the nine Outermost Regions (ORs) in order to strengthen the skills of these territories to fit into European programming, it will thus make it possible to increase the competitiveness of the ORs by promoting better integration into the world of research and innovation. This ambitious project has a duration of 3 years and has an envelope of 4 million euros financed 100% by the European Union. Forward, organized within several work modules called "work packages", is the perfect opportunity to take stock of the local ecosystem in terms of research and innovation, to identify the potential of the island in the area and to assess the relationship of the economic fabric. The speakers underlined the strength of a territory like Saint Martin which implements the actions necessary for the development of a sector as essential as new technologies. The morning of discussion between developers, organizers and entrepreneurs helped to strengthen the dialogue between the different actors with the priority of the territorial development of this type of activity. The round table was composed of three stages with, among other things, a detailed video presentation of the Forward project, interventions by representatives (Forward, CCISM, Réserve Naturelle, etc.) and questions and answers with the public of entrepreneurs.
