Sexual exhibition and insults to the gendarmes: a 19-year-old boy placed under judicial supervision

0

Last Wednesday, while she was at home, a young woman saw a young man from the neighboring residence in Oyster Pond, on her terrace, masturbating. She calls the gendarmes who will arrest the individual at his home. Nineteen-year-old EC was then placed in police custody during which he insulted and showed violence against the gendarmes.

EC is prosecuted for sexual exhibition as well as contempt and violence against persons holding public authority. He was presented before the local court of Saint-Martin two days later in immediate appearance.

As the law allows him, the young man asked for a delay to prepare his defense. He acknowledges his behavior while in police custody but denies the facts of sexual exhibition. His trial is adjourned to May 20. In the meantime, the court had to rule on EC's situation: let him go free, place him under judicial supervision or warrant of committal (prison).

The public prosecutor requested the third option. For her, EC presents “a disturbing profile”. She reports acts of violence in which he participated, when he was a minor.

After deliberation, the court placed EC under judicial supervision with the obligation to reside with his mother in Concordia, to report to the gendarmerie accompanied by his mother or his sister once a week, the prohibition to carry a weapon , to go to Oyster Pond and make contact with the victim. The latter was present at the hearing and was still frightened.
