After having spent four years at the head of the gendarmerie of Guadeloupe and the Northern Islands (2015-2019), Lieutenant General Jean-Marc Descoux, now commander of the Gendarmerie d'Outre-mer, was passing through the last week in Saint-Martin.
A meeting between President Louis Mussington and General Jean-Marc Descoux took place last Friday, in the presence of Colonel Vincent Lamballe, commander of the gendarmerie of Guadeloupe and the Northern Islands and Lieutenant-Colonel Maxime Wintzer, commander of the gendarmerie of Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy.
This first contact made it possible to discuss joint subjects, such as the territorial police/gendarmerie means agreement, the urban development project and cooperation in the area of crime prevention.
On this subject, President Louis Mussington recalled the need to revive the action of the CLSPD.
This Local Security and Crime Prevention Council is a joint State/COM/Justice tool that the territory must know how to use for the benefit of the population.
General Descoux, who knows Saint-Martin well for having worked in the area, particularly after Hurricane Irma, indicated that his teams were at the service of the security of Saint-Martin and its inhabitants.
General Jean-Marc Descoux has taken over the command of the Overseas Gendarmerie (CGOM) in Arcueil since August 1, 2019. _AF
