Senator Guillaume Arnell called on the government last Thursday in the Senate on the rum quota. "Producers of traditional rum (…) benefit from reduced taxation for rum exported to mainland France", explains Mr. Arnell in the press. "How can the Commission be forced to review its position and increase the quota by annexing it to the rate of increase in sales?" He wonders. Overseas Minister Erika Bareigts notably replied to the senator that she supports the development of the sector. In the context of this dossier, the minister recalled that a request was sent to Brussels last month and that a meeting will take place soon. _EH
