The 2014 activity report for the port of Galisbay was presented to the elected officials by the general manager of the Saint-Martin port establishment, Albéric Ellis, during the last Territorial Council. Exports fell 39%.

The general manager Albéric Ellis thus revealed some revealing figures of the port activity for the year 2014. Nearly 196.546 tonnes of goods were treated, against 221.396 tonnes for 2013. Fuel represents a large part of the traffic with 42% of the total goods.

Regarding imports, they jumped 1% to reach 153.576 tonnes. Petroleum products - gasoline, diesel and propane - represent 52%, coming from St-Croix and Puerto Rico. In second position, we find building materials, followed by miscellaneous products and food products. On the other hand, the year was not good for exports with a drop of 39% to 42.970 tonnes of goods. This fall is the result of the closure of the Grand-Case quarry, a major exporter of aggregates, underlines Albéric Ellis.

The port of Galisbay, which employs 25 people, is a multipurpose terminal which includes 30.000 square meters of median and 210 meters of wharf length. Albéric Ellis is supported by a Board of Directors which includes six territorial advisers: President Jean-David Richardson, 1st Vice-President Guillaume Arnell, 2nd Vice-President Daniel Gibbs, and three other members, René-Jean Duret, Louis Fleming and Jean-Philippe Richardson.
