Politics: Jean-François Carenco, new Minister Delegate for Overseas Territories

0

Jean-François Carenco was appointed Minister Delegate in charge of Overseas Territories yesterday, during the reshuffle of the government of Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne.

Until now a full-fledged ministry, the Overseas Departments are now attached to the Ministry of the Interior. Jean-François Carenco will therefore officiate under the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, who sees his portfolio extended to the Overseas Territories.

Senior civil servant, former prefect in particular of Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon (1996-1997) and Guadeloupe (1999-2002), Jean-François Carenco thus replaces at the ministry of rue Oudinot Yaël-Braun Pivet, appointed on May 20 last but who had left office on June 26 in order to run for the presidency of the National Assembly where she was elected on June 28. _AF
