EDUCATION: The hour of retirement has come for Michel Sanz after seven years spent in St Martin

After more than forty years of service, Michel Sanz is retiring. He began his career in National Education in 1980 as a teacher in a school in a small town near Agen in Lot-et-Garonne. He then held various positions (academy inspector, director of education, site and production within the CNED) in Metropolitan France until August 2015, the year when he flew, at his request, to Guadeloupe Academy.

In Saint-Martin, Michel Sanz succeeds Jean-Marie Jespoir. He was appointed vice-rector on December 1, 2020. His colleagues and the heads of establishments underlined during a ceremony, this desire “to make the specificities of Saint-Martin a real success”. In particular, he contributed to setting up bilingual classes, classes with flexible hours, teaching tourism, and creating new BTS. Everyone agrees that Michel Sanz “has upset the education system” locally. "On arriving in Saint-Martin, he discovered the potential of the territory and put himself at its service," said the rector. “I registered my actions in the continuity”, he confines himself to say.

And to insist on “the dynamics” of the teams on the ground which allowed the success of the measures. Michel Sanz also marked these seven years spent in Saint-Martin by his desire to bring together all the staff, in particular those of the first and second degree. “Everyone worked in their corner without making their work visible, but it was important to unite the teams around their actions,” he comments.

Michel Sanz leaves the territory "with a heavy heart" to settle in the Basque country. It will be replaced from September 1st. (soualigapost.com)
