0

A boater, spotted engaging in illegal fishing, was "pinched" by the Nautical Brigade in possession of several dozen kilos of conch. The note promises to be salty for him!

On Sunday April 10, the nautical gendarmerie brigade of Saint-Martin intervenes in Orient Bay as part of an underwater conch fishing. Surprised by the intervention, the yachtsman parted with a large part of the fruit of his illegal fishing, in this case several tens of kilos of conch! Caught in the bag, the poacher will have to answer for his crime before the courts.

Queen conch fishing regulations:

The Queen Conch is a mollusc protected by the Washington Agreements and its fishing is regulated. It is prohibited for recreational fishermen at any time and any place. On the other hand, it is authorized for professional fishermen, outside the nature reserve, from September 1 to March 31 of each year for the Northern Islands on the strict condition of respecting the regulatory size. _AF
