Solidarity Pact: 2225 people were supported at the height of the Covid-19 crisis

This social system, set up by the Collectivity on March 30, due to confinement, was addressed to students in difficulty, but it more generally concerned people in vulnerable situations: the elderly, the disabled, families in difficulty or isolated people.

The emergency food aid system, supported by the Solidarité et Familles delegation, chaired by Annick Pétrus, consisted in delivering daily to the home, on the one hand, hot meals prepared by the CTOS, but also food baskets prepared with the Red Cross.  It also concerned the carrying of home shopping by the partner associations Sandy Ground On the Move and Cobraced.

The plan ended on May 31, and we have just established the balance sheet of this exceptional and unprecedented social aid introduced by the Collectivity:

-  2225 beneficiaries were supported at the height of the Covid-19 crisis.

- Between April 3 and May 31, 2020, the Collectivity of Saint-Martin distributed 1841 food baskets for a total amount of € 32 supported by the Collectivity

- Between April 3 and May 31, CTOS distributed 4800 home meals for an amount of € 14. The overall cost of the operation for CTOS amounts to € 000.

- The Maternelle Infantile Protection has also mobilized with the continuation of consultations and monitoring of children of social assistance to children and the organization of reception structures to welcome the young children of the nursing staff mobilized during the crisis .

Thanks to this collective momentum and to the chain of solidarity set up with its partners, the Collectivity was able to come to the aid of many families.

The opportunity to warmly thank the partner organizations and associations: The Red Cross, the Manteau de Saint-Martin, the district councils and associations that helped identify people in difficulty, but also elected officials and agents of the Community and CTOS who have mobilized to bring these social systems to life.

"The Solidarity Pact has ended, but there is no question of abandoning these families to their fate," said Daniel Gibbs.

The Collectivity will continue the social monitoring of people in great difficulty identified during the COVID19 crisis, and support may be offered to them as a continuation of the systems in force.
