Operation Noël Solidaire: The FORE IDN training center and the OFII and the Lions Club of Saint-Martin unite to offer gifts to the most disadvantaged

French language training interns FORE-OFII, newcomers to the territory of Saint-Martin and the Lions Club of Saint Martin organized a distribution of gifts in the neighborhoods.

FORE Iles du Nord is a vocational and continuing education center for adults located in Hope Estate, hosting, among other things, French language training classes.

During the month of December, a French language training class funded by the French Office for Integration and Immigration organized a collection to prepare “Christmas Boxes” to offer to the most disadvantaged in Saint-Martin.

The OFII A1 French class welcomes people in need of renewal of a residence permit with the Prefecture of Saint-Martin.

The training has 2 essential objectives:

• The acquisition of the linguistic skills necessary for life and integration on a French territory

• The discovery and adherence to the social and cultural specificities of the national and local territory.

The action of Christmas boxes meets these 2 objectives: it is a lever for learning the language as well as a means of illustrating the republican principle of "solidarity" enshrined in the national currency. In this spirit, the trainees of the class expressed the wish to set up a project which enabled them to come to the aid of people in need. They therefore organized a collection among themselves in order to fill "Christmas boxes". They then made boxes containing:

• A "tip" for dressing

• A good "trick"

• A "tip" to be clean and beautiful

• A "trick" to play

• A nice "trick"

The filled boxes were entrusted to the Lions Club association of Saint-Martin represented by Sandra Fleming. The boxes were distributed by the Lions Club association in the neighborhoods on Tuesday, December 22.
