SWIMMING: Championships of the East Caribbean States A harvest of medals for our young swimmers from Saint-Martin!

Ten young swimmers from the French and Dutch part of the island participated last week in the 28th Championships of the East Caribbean States, organized in Antigua.

The least we can say is that the results of the week are very positive with an improvement in personal times for all swimmers, despite the stress of international competition. The French teams have improved their personal times over 37 races (84% of records broken) and the Dutch teams over 27 races (85% of records broken).

The participation of our young swimmers in such an event allowed them to live a unique experience and to confront themselves at a very high level (12 nations present.)

In total, the swimmers brought back 16 medals.

The best results were in open water with 9 medals for the French part:

In 8 years and under (1km): Maxime Gibbs (CST), Nico Piazza (CST) and Joey Schvartz-Arnaud (CST) finish 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively on the podium.

In 9-10 years (1km) Matias Piazza (CST) and Miles Chelsey (CST) brought the gold and silver medal to St-Martin.

Finally, in 11-12 years and over a distance of 3 km, Sacha Gibbs (CST) wins the gold medal.

The Dutch swimmers have not failed either with a gold medal in girls in 9-10 years (1km): Adaya Bourne (Sharks).

For the 3 km, Vadym Semkiv (CST) and Emma Marshall (CST) also each bring a gold medal to Sint-Marteen.

The opportunity to participate in this type of competition is vital for these young swimmers to gain experience and improve their performance. Recall that this first trip was entirely sponsored by the company "Groupe Deldevert", the latter also took charge of all the outfits of the national team of Saint-Martin.

The swimmers will now return to train with a next goal in mind, to compete in a Championship in Guadeloupe!

We cross our fingers for our young champions! _AF
