West African music at Kali's

0

Julien Séguret teaches music in college and percussion at Pianissimo. He met the Guinean Souleymane Camara recently arrived on the island and player of Kora (African guitar-harp) and together they created a musical duet.

They have already performed in various evenings and last Friday, they were at Kali's at Friar's Bay for a big celebration of African music.

After a demonstration of multiple percussions by the students of Pianissimo, Julien on drums, Souleymane on the kora, Mariam Traoré dancer from Burkina Faso and her husband Fabien on the flute delighted the large assembly with this mix of traditional Malinke music and well-rhythmic African dances. Beautiful evening and beautiful atmosphere at Kali where there is always something special happening. A beach bar & restaurant to visit without moderation.
