WEATHER / Precipitation: a Lent identical to that of last year

0

The dry season which ended in April was marked by high rainfall in February and very low rainfall in December and January.

Even if Météo France recalls that during Lent, it is normal for significant rainy episodes to be rare, the first two months were particularly dry with rainfall recorded at the Grand Case station of 39 mm in December and 37 mm in January. Météo France indicates that December 2021 counted “among the 20% driest December months of the last 65 years” and January 2022 “among the 10 driest January months of the last 65 years”.

On the other hand, still in a context of Lent, it rained a lot in February (95 mm). Météo France ranked this month “fifth among the rainiest months of February since 1969 in the Northern Islands”.

In the end, during the five months of dry season, 253,5 mm of rain fell, as much as during the previous one (251 mm).

According to forecasters, a rainfall deficit is expected for the months of June-July and August in Saint-Martin with temperatures close to normal to slightly cooler. (soualigapost.com)
