After Irma, the prefecture requisitioned equipment from a Saint-Martin company to build a road, transport people and goods.
Eight buses, two vans and a loader were made available in September and October 2017 for an amount of 229 euros. However, the company considered that this sum was insufficient and did not cover the damage caused to the vehicles. She therefore requested an additional 190 euros. But the prefect refused to pay.
The company then appealed to the administrative court. It produced two expert reports to prove that the vehicles made available were damaged. The court considered that "if these reports established the existence of disorders affecting the vehicles, the company did not provide any element allowing to distinguish among these claims those which would not have already been compensated by the sum of 229 euros ". So he denied her request.
