Libraries Without Borders sets up digital libraries and mobile media libraries

The media library having been destroyed by Irma, access to culture has since been very limited in Saint-Martin. The prefect therefore wished to set up mobile media libraries. The project is supported by Libraries without Borders.

Initially, the association will install “new generation digital libraries” or KoomBook. The kit will allow educational teams to have access to other content. Nineteen have been ordered and are on the way to Saint Martin.

In a second step, Libraries without borders will send two Ideas Box to Saint-Martin, or two mobile media libraries in kit form. The content will be adapted to local needs, especially in linguistic terms. It is being developed with partners in the field.

In addition, 15 books in French, English and Spanish will soon be donated and distributed among the fifteen public nursery and elementary schools on the French side in partnership with the Ministry of Education.

These three schemes are co-financed for the most part by European funds as well as by the Fondation de France, for a total amount of 530 euros.
