Temporary work to rehabilitate the quays at the Royal Marina in Marigot started last week.
The Marina Port la Royale is essentially made up of private condominiums. The community owns 5% of the land represented by the decks surrounding the water point. Following the exit from the public service delegation (DSP) of Semsamar which managed until December 31, 2018 the two marinas of Marigot, the Collectivity took over the management of its domain and undertook repair work on the deck on the Marina Port. the Royal. Semsamar will have to finalize other projects as part of its exit from DSP.
The agents of the technical services of the community were therefore in charge of repairing the wooden structure of the promenade which runs alongside the shops and restaurants of the marina. Once the deck has been consolidated, a synthetic covering will be installed and the area will benefit from a flowering program. The community will also strengthen the collective lighting on the public domain of the Marina. These works will be completed before the next tourist season. The beautification and flowering program will also concern the shopping streets of Marigot.
The Marina parking lot, a real safety topic
The prefect Sylvie Feucher and the president Daniel Gibbs decided to act to secure the access to the Marina, to allow the tourists to access without fear and to the tradesmen to work in serene conditions. A meeting was therefore organized with traders in the area on April 03, to present the actions previously decided by the prefecture and the community to resolve this security problem which has persisted for several years.
The commitments made by the authorities with regard to the car park (Low-Town side) are as follows:
- Demolition of the low walls of the car park
- Replacement of public lighting in the car park
- Contact with the neighboring property located in the public domain and serving as a fallback place
- Installation of video protection in the car park
- Surveillance and Investigations on drug trafficking by the gendarmerie
- Systematic reporting by traders of any aggressive or violent behavior
- Establishment of an ARS / Justice convention for therapeutic injunctions with regard to homeless people who live on the site.
- Securing and cleaning by the Joint Ownership of the common areas under its responsibility. A working meeting will be organized.
Regular monitoring will be carried out by the Prefecture and the Community to ensure that all of these commitments are kept.
