On Friday March 9, parents of students from Ghislaine Rogers and Elie Gibs schools in Grand Case were able to talk with vice-president Yawo Nyuiadzi, in the absence of President Gibbs and vice-president Annick Pétrus, currently in Guadeloupe to meet the rector of the Academy.

Vice-president Nyuiadzi was accompanied by territorial advisor Jean-Raymond Benjamin, Deputy Director General in charge of the Sustainable Development Pole, Romain Perreau, Medhi Boucard Director of Education, Kenroy Bryan, Director of Caisse Territoriale des Œuvres Scolaires (CTOS) and François-Xavier Binvel, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President.

After a silent walk, the parents of the pupils exchanged with representatives of the Collectivity who came to meet them on the Grand Case site. The discussion was constructive, the Collectivity as the parents wishing to improve the conditions of reception of the pupils of the two schools concerned. Vice-President Nyuiadzi acknowledged that in the urgency of the many school files to be dealt with, the link with the parents of students has not been sufficiently maintained.

For better information, the Collectivity intends to set up a space for dialogue with the teaching staff and the representatives of the parents of pupils to keep them informed of the advances or difficulties encountered in the context of the reconstruction of the schools. Information meetings on the works will therefore be frequently organized.

Parents were also informed of the upcoming start of work in the schools of Grand Case. The site was a few days late, due to the swell and the inability for the freighters to deliver the materials ordered.

During this exchange, the Collectivity firmly committed to respond quickly to the expectations of parents of students and teachers, particularly with regard to the conditions for the reopening of Ghislaine Rogers kindergarten in September and the reopening of the school restaurant. kindergartens.

A meeting is therefore set for Monday, March 12, at the Hôtel de la Collectivité with representatives of the parents of students from Grand-Case to present the work projects to them.

More generally, the community is committed to communicating regularly on the progress of school sites. President Gibbs announced in November that he would not accept back-to-school at a discount at the start of the school year in September 2018, and that the Collectivity would do everything to advance in this direction with the Rectorate and the services of State.
