Vocational school students have started their boat license training

It's official. The students of the nautical maintenance sector of the vocational school began their boat license training on Friday, December 7. Rector Mostafa Fourar signed the partnership agreement with principal Janine Hamlet and Boris Villemin, the trainer of the Aquatic'ô school.

The agreement ensures the continuation of training for four years. This year, it is dispensed to 37 pupils of first and final years Bac Pro and CAP. But from next year, will be concerned only those of first. To prepare for the boat license exam, students will be entitled to 144 hours of theoretical lessons and 45 hours of practice.

The rectorate has released 40 euros, accompanied by the Fondation de France to the tune of 000 euros. For the rector, "it was a question of repairing an injustice". In Guadeloupe, students from the same sector benefit from this training, supported by the region. For Saint-Martin, he hopes that in four years the Community will take over.

According to Janine Hamlet, the boat license constitutes a real “added value” to the nautical maintenance diploma. But its cost, around 500 euros when the pupils have to pass it alone, is an obstacle for children mainly from disadvantaged classes.

"They are well aware of the gift that the rectorate gives them and lend themselves to the game with enthusiasm" advances Boris Villemin who underlines the motivation and the seriousness of the students.
