On Friday, September 9, cadets from the Sint Maarten Police Force (KPSM) learned about mental health through a presentation given by several representatives of the Mental Health Foundation, located in Cay Hill . 

This operation aimed to educate young officers on mental health issues. The presentation in question focused on the operations and health resources of the Mental Health Foundation, the state of mental health in the country and working with stakeholders to reduce the stigma of mental health. It was given by several members of the foundation, namely clinical psychologist and MHF clinic coordinator Tameka Lambert, registered nurse and case manager Dion Trustful, and psychologist and education and prevention officer Emmalexis Velasquez. In the spirit of interactive demonstration, the presentation was accompanied by role-playing which allowed the cadets to put into practice the information they received. This playful activity on a serious theme was well received and carried out with great enthusiasm by the young police officers. The initiative was spearheaded by the Sint Maarten police services. Indeed, the KPSM has made a request for a presentation session to the Mental Health Foundation as part of the training of the cadets, in particular to address the recognition and response to disturbances caused by people with possible mental health problems. health related to mental illness.
