"A new observation in flagrante delicto of the illegal exploitation of a beach restaurant in Baie Rouge was made Sunday, August 18 by the gendarmes", announces the prosecutor detached from Saint-Martin. The facility's operating equipment was seized.

The operation took place within the framework of the Police Committee for the Environment and Town Planning (COPOLENU) of the Northern Islands, which "aims in particular to allow reconstruction in a legal manner and in compliance with town planning rules. ".

The investigation is ongoing. "The prosecution will soon indicate the nature of the planned criminal proceedings against the operator and his daughter, who are being heard," said the deputy prosecutor Monday mid-morning in a statement. “The operator and his daughter occupy, without rights or title, private property, where they have carried out work without a building permit, in a non-building area according to the local POS and with strong constraints from the PPRN (operation therefore irregular), without declare the staff or pay charges and taxes corresponding to the turnover, and without a license to sell alcohol, ”adds the prosecution.

This same restaurant had already been closed in December 2012 following a check by the veterinary services. Its upgrading and work in the kitchens had allowed its reopening by the prefecture.

However, it remained illegal on the beach. Indeed, restaurants operating in Baie Rouge must not request a temporary occupation permit (AOT) from the Collectivity (as requested by the operator in 2012) but from the Terres Basses association. However, the association has not issued any authorization.  (Source www.soualigapost.com)
