President Gibbs received at their request, the members of the PEPSXM group of parents of students on the question of the progress of repair work in schools, in the presence of Mr. Christian Climent-Pons in charge of reconstruction for National Education and community technicians.

This constructive exchange between the representatives of the collective and the president of the community made it possible to review the situation of each establishment under renovation.

After the urgent repairs phase now completed, the Collectivity is now working on the rooms that were not operational to free up new workspaces. During the summer holidays 2019, the more substantial work will be undertaken and completed for the start of the September school year. "I can not do new with old, but the community is doing everything to make the establishments as welcoming as possible," said the president.

Apart from a few stumbling blocks about to be settled in two schools, the establishments of the 1st degree are all in working order. There remains the establishment of the Very Small Kindergarten Section at Siméone Trott School which should operate at the end of January 2019.

In the 2nd degree, the work of the Lycée technique de Marigot (LPO) is well under way. Work is underway in the school restaurant and workshops. The gymnasium should be operational at the start of the Christmas holidays. Only the CDI and the multipurpose room will be ready for the start of the school year in September 2019.

The president announced that the college of Quartier d'Orléans would be partially destroyed and rebuilt by the end of 2019. "The community wished to make a particular effort for this college REP + and thus promote the learning conditions in this remote sector of the island, "he said. Work on the Mont des Accords college in Marigot is underway and will be completed in April 2019.

The school district has been overstaffed since Irma because it hosts two colleges (including the Soualiga college destroyed by Irma) and a high school. The construction of 6 additional modular rooms will be definitively completed at the end of January 2019. In total, 10 modular rooms will then be open to accommodate middle and high school students. To respond to the overcrowding, Mr. Climent-Pons reminded that the establishments would mix up timetables to reduce the gaps in the students' schedules and avoid them being in the courtyard or in front of the establishment.

The President has heard the parents' grievances and will study the proposals. The President agreed to continue these reparation follow-up meetings with parents and partners.
