The Les Fruits de Mer association will present two new projects at the Amuseum Naturalis this month. One of them is Soualibra, a free research library focused on Saint-Martin. The other is an exhibition of poems from the Hurricane Protocol, the latest book by famous St. Martin writer Lasana M. Sekou.

"We are delighted to launch two projects related to writing and in Saint-Martin," says Jenn Yerkes,  the President of Les Fruits de Mer association. "The Hurricane Protocol exhibition will be a new way to discover the work of this renowned poet from St. Martin."

The poems in Hurricane Protocol were written in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. They explore the impact of destruction on individuals, families and communities. The selections will be presented in a large-format outdoor installation, Sekou's first museum exhibition and the first poetry exhibition at the Amuseum Naturalis.

Soualibra is a research library that collects books and other materials about St. Martin. The library catalog, including links to digital resources, is available at http://soualibra.com.

The physical library is located at the Amuseum Naturalis in Quartier d'Orléans. It contains over 100 books on nature, history, culture and literature. Soualibra's wishlist has a lot more to it. Susanne van Mierlo is the chief librarian of Soualibra.

“When the libraries on the island closed after Hurricane Irma, we were all saddened,” says Mark Yokoyama, co-founder of the Fruits de Mer association. “We cannot offer the range of services of a library. public, but we believe that a resource focused solely on St. Martin and open to the public will have lasting value. Only a tiny fraction of this information is available online. ”

The launch of the Hurricane Protocol exhibition and a special preview of Soualibra will take place in 2019 during the Endemic Animals Festival at the Amuseum Naturalis. The festival is a free public event for all ages that celebrates St. Martin's unique wildlife and natural heritage. The event will take place at Amuseum Naturalis at The Old House in Quartier d'Orléans on Sunday April 28 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

This year's event is made possible by Gold Sponsor Delta Petroleum and other partners 97150, Birds Caribbean, Buzz, IZI Light, L'Auberge Gourmande, Lagoonies Bistro and Bar, L'Esperance Hôtel, St. Martin's Sweetness and Tri -Sport.
