Open doors will take place on Saturday at the slaughterhouse from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., in Grand-Case. The opportunity for the population to taste the local meat since the first animals were slaughtered last week. A visit to the infrastructures will also be possible. Update with Julien Gumbs, agricultural affairs officer at the CCISM.

What meat will be offered to the public?

The first animals were slaughtered on Thursday September 24. We selected two cattle from La Savane, two sheep from Quartier d'Orléans, two goats from La Savane and two pigs from Cul-de-Sac.

Who selected these animals?

It is the SICASMART group, which includes the producers. Its role is to manage the organization of the sector, facilitate the supply of breeders (equipment, food, etc.), and the marketing of products.

What will be the rate of slaughter?

From the month of number, the animals will be slaughtered regularly. Theoretically, every week. The planning will be carried out every quarter.

As a reminder, it was last June that the slaughterhouse was inaugurated, in the presence of many actors from the agricultural sector. "This enhancement of the Saint-Martin agro-food sector is a first on our territory", had also specified the president of the Collectivity Aline Hanson in her speech, during this ceremony.
