Overseas Convention: Equality-Employment, a platform to support young people from overseas

0

An agreement to promote access to employment and training for young people from overseas was signed on Wednesday, November 23, between the Interministerial Delegation for Equal Opportunities for French Overseas (DIECFOM), the Minister of Labor, Myriam EL KHOMRI and large French companies.

By this action in favor of young people from overseas, the interministerial delegate Jean-Marc MORMECK, at the origin of this device, wanted to federate large employers, associations working with the overseas youth and the Parisian antennas of Overseas communities, with the aim of creating an exchange platform responsible for collecting information on job seekers from overseas and putting them in contact with the offers of partner companies, through a dedicated network . These young job seekers have priority over the offers published, and benefit from specialized support to carry out their procedures.

Officially launched on November 23, the platform is a website www.delegation.jeunesseoutremer.org whose management has been entrusted to the association Jeunesse Outre-mer. She has already compiled more than 800 job and internship offers in companies. Saint-Martin is a member of this network thanks to the Maison de Saint-Martin in Paris and to the Pélicarus association, which are partners of Jeunesse Outre-mer.

Young Saint-Martin residents can thus benefit from this new system, while being supported by the Maison de Saint-Martin, which continues to be involved in guiding French students looking for internships and jobs. This work was carried out in partnership with the Pelicarus association, which is gradually expanding its network of students in university towns in France.

Still as part of the employability assistance for our young people, the Maison de Saint-Martin participated, on Saturday, November 26, in the Employment Equality Forum which took place at the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (IENA Palace) , where 1500 young people were present.
