La Niña: more tropical storms?

0

The seasonal forecasts for June, July and August were recently published by Météo France. For this quarter, the situation is special: it will certainly be hot in Saint-Martin, but La Niña - which could be observed from the start of summer according to experts - should disrupt the sky. We are in a transitional period with the end of El Niño in the Pacific Ocean. The hurricane period also limits predictability. La Niña - opposed to El Niño - translates into “sea surface temperatures which, in the very first tens of meters of depth, remain abnormally cold over the entire area extending from the center to the east of the Pacific around from the equator ”. Meteorologists have found that this phenomenon favors tropical storms and hurricanes.
