The characteristics of the Saint-Martin population were discussed by the issuing institute of overseas departments (IEDOM) during the presentation of the collective's annual report. The last complete INSEE census dates back to 2011 and indicates 36.287 inhabitants. More than a third of the population is made up of young people under the age of 20. "Single parenthood remains high with 37% of families, compared to 14% nationally," said the head of the research department Bérangère Callamand. Note that signs of aging are felt. "The share of those under 20 is growing more slowly than that of those over 60," added the institute.
