The fight continues against hepatitis B and C

Each year, on the occasion of the National Day against Hepatitis B and C, which took place on June 20, Public Health France publishes epidemiological data, including a bulletin for the West Indies and Guyana. These hepatitis are liver infections caused by the hepatitis B (HBV) and hepatitis C (HCV) viruses, the bulletin said. Regarding hepatitis C, the indicators (in 2015) indicate a higher activity for screening the virus in the French overseas departments than in France. In the Antilles-Guyane, the activity is estimated at 83 tests per 1000 inhabitants in Guadeloupe, which “represents the highest activity in France in 2015”. The archipelago is followed by Martinique with 71 tests per 1000 inhabitants. As for Guyana, 61 tests per 1 inhabitants were carried out. _EH
