As of September 6, 2017, in the hours following Irma's passage to Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy, the Fondation de France launched a call for national solidarity for the Antilles. A call for donations which raised 14 million euros.

The Fondation de France teams arrived in Saint-Martin on September 10. A committee of volunteer experts was set up and chose, at its first meeting on September 15, to intervene as a priority on the island of Saint-Martin, which is particularly devastated and which concentrates the most vulnerable populations. A year after the passage of hurricanes Irma and Maria, the Fondation de France has already committed 10 million and 62 euros, allocated to 105 projects in the Antilles (Saint-Martin, Dominica, Saint-Barthélemy, Cuba, Haiti). 49 of these projects directly concern Saint-Martin, for a total of 35 euros. Projects classified according to four priority support axes: disaster aid (food, social, psychological aid, etc.), economic recovery (support for small entrepreneurs, farmers, artisans, etc.), home rehabilitation, and education, culture and actions in favor of youth. And distributed among around thirty associations or local businesses. “The first thing that jumps out after Irma has passed is the destruction of the building. But to rebuild is also to rebuild men, women, and especially children ”continues Karine Meaux.
