The community takes tax measures for individuals and businesses

During the Executive Council of September 22, 2017, the Collectivity took two major tax measures, in order to help individuals and businesses:

- A reduction in the property tax has been requested by the Collectivity. Thus, individuals and businesses are exempt from paying this tax. For those who have already paid their property tax, they will be reimbursed by the Public Treasury without further formality.

- The Collectivity has also decided to suspend tax proceedings for 2017 and previous years for 12 months, i.e. until September 22, 2018 for individuals and businesses.

On the other hand, any taxation derived from the activity or income over the year 2018 will be due and may be subject to prosecution in the event of non-payment.

Please note, this suspension does not mean the cancellation of the tax debt of the taxpayers concerned. Consequently, the community invites all taxpayers to pay their arrears before the prosecution resumes.

The Saint-Martin public finance administrator (Trésor public - Concordia) is at your disposal for spreading out payments. By these measures, the President, Daniel Gibbs, and the elected officials of the Collectivity wished to support the population in a complicated social and economic context following the passage of Hurricane IRMA.  _AF
